ITIL missed the opportunity to provide an easy to use, pragmatic, best practice model. But customer demand, project failures, retrials, re-thinking of affected show that such an easy to use, transparent and simple model is the key for successful configuration management projects. But the CMS should be the one and only place where the important parts of all this metadata information is consolidated, connected (through relations) and provided to all other ITSM Processes.
